History of the Green Boundary:
William and Frances Wood, and their daughter, Aileen, began coming to Aiken in 1938. William was an avid polo player and had known Ziegler as a fellow polo player, and in January 1941, on his third visit to Aiken, Wood became the owner of “Sunshine” which he renamed “Green Boundary.”
The Green Boundary Club in Aiken, South Carolina was founded in 1956 by a group of winter colonists who purchased a home. The home was originally named "Sunshine" but was renamed "Green Boundary" by William Wood, who bought it in 1941. Mrs. Dorothy Knox Goodyear Rogers, Seymour Knox's sister, was the club's first president.
The club was originally a small, private dining club that was only open during the winter. Today, it's a year-round social and dining club with a lively membership that considers it a "home away from home". The club offers fine dining, special events, and other activities, including trivia, Christmas caroling, Easter and Thanksgiving dinners, and Sunday brunch. The club's staff also helps to make weddings, parties, and other celebrations special.
